“The Great Wall of China. The Taj Mahal. Petra. The Colosseum. Christ the Redeemer. Chichén Itzá. Machu Picchu.

These sites and monuments are popularly known as the “new Seven Wonders of the World,” modern additions to the ancient Seven Wonders laid out by Philo of Byzantium in 250 B.C., which included the hanging gardens of Babylon and the pyramids of Giza. (Of those ancient seven, only the pyramids remain.)

The new wonders were chosen in 2007 through an online contest put on by a Swiss company, the New 7 Wonders Foundation, in which more than tens of millions of people voted. All are Unesco World Heritage sites.”

Analysis:

I found this article linked in another article that covers this same topic. The interesting thing about this is not the “new wonders” but rather the medium of delivery. Each wonder has been filmed to be viewed in VR (Virtual Reality) goggles. We often see pictures of beautiful places we long of traveling to. Is the future of experience and travel linked to virtual or augmented reality? Traveling the world can cost tens of thousands of dollars, but a quality pair of VR goggles can be found for less than five hundred dollars. The metaverse is a new frontier to be explored and experienced. How can we utilize this technology to educate and inspire future generations.
