“Another advantage of overhead garage storage is accessibility. Accessing objects that are kept on shelves or in cabinets can be difficult, especially if they are tucked away or in a small area. On the other hand, objects that are kept up high can still be easily accessed thanks to overhead garage storage. You can easily lower the storage racks or shelves using a pulley system or ladder, making it much easier to find and retrieve items.”(Fleximounts 2023)
This a great way to think of how to store things in spaces that are not quite being utilized. This makes me think more deeply about collapsable shelves as well which are mounted in areas that might not always be best to have something there. So it would be nice for temporary use and have the ability to be like a flat pack and tuck away when it is not needed.
In this section of the writing he is talking about how he mounted a tv, and a shelf for his ps4 under it, on his ceiling and wrote, “my friends and family kept banging their heads on the TV, so I eventually acquiesced and took it down, taking a valuable lesson with me: If you’re going to use your ceiling for storage, make sure you are smart about placement.” (Ellefson 2024)
“With a few S-hooks, you could use a chain to store belts, shoes, cooking utensils, or winter gear like hats and scarves. That’s a customizable, DIY option, but there are also some pre-made products out there that make this easy. For the most part, with pre-made solutions, you have two options: Industrial but less attractive, or aesthetically pleasing but less sturdy.”(Ellefson 2024)
“On the other hand, you can try a ceiling-mounted net, which can be used in a closet or elsewhere in the home for lighter items, especially seasonal ones you don’t use a lot or things you have a bunch of, like stuffed animals or shoes.”(Ellefson 2024)
This made me think of this as a more probable option for most people and that it is probably nicer to have deigns that give customers more options. This also allows for users to have a chance for customization and to make a space more personalized, and maybe show off some of their belongings that like decoration. This also touches on a project I did research for last year including how multi-leveled decorations make environments more approachable.
