I used different colored Copic markers and created ripple patterns on a piece of paper where a hole is made in the center. The patterns follow the shape of the center cut and shift from a cool blue color to warm orange and back to blue again. I purposely massaged the paper a little to give it texture, so its surface is no longer perfectly smooth. I then lit up a candle and placed this piece of paper on top; a mirror is placed in the back to capture reflection. During the entire process of photo-shoot, the room is kept dark without any natural light source, allowing the candle light to be the singular source. Through these photos, I hope to explore and experiment with color and texture to discover their relationships with light and shadow.
