The target area for my survey was the OSU student chess club. There are roughly 150 or so members of this club. The exact number is unknown because there’s no official registration for it, so I based that number on the number of active members in the chess club discord. I got 23 responses making up for 15% of the club.

 My recruitment was done mainly through promoting it on Discord. I chose to survey this group not only because of my connection to it but also because I knew that, although it is a chess club, these members also play a wide variety of games. With my focus on gamification, I thought it would be useful to survey a group of people who have a lot of experience in this topic area.

 This survey was aimed at getting an understanding of what areas of finance students felt most/least confident in. I wanted to use this survey as a baseline to understand people’s financial literacy levels and also as a recruiting device for interviews. I want to explore more in-depth exactly what the draw to video games/gaming is to hopefully discover ways to implement gamification into financial education.
