The Hover Shield is designed to protect first responders. A common theme throughout the Focus article section was making sure that the first responders could arrive safely to the mass casualty scene. The Hover Shield is designed to hover above the first responder and sense danger or oncoming attacks. The Hover Shield employs drone technology and uses sensors embedded in the first responder’s clothing as a way to follow and track his or her movements. Additionally, the Hover Shield allows the first responder to aid in triage because it “watches” your back and protects you from falling debris or if you are under fire.

Takeaway

This hover shield is a great idea for protecting responders individually. If deployed, I am concerned how this would impact collaboration and teamwork between responders. Additionally, I feel like the Hover Shield can adapt to other terrains. For example, if the first responder needs to cross a river, the Hover Shield can turn into a boat.
