Analysis:
I included this source because it highlights the need for a comprehensive policy in Ohio regarding Sex Education. This graphic shows that most of the common attributes of effective school-based sexual health education are not included in the law for Ohio. That means that the sex education a student receives is dependent on where they go to school. This is problematic because sexual health should not be dependent on location or access to knowledge. Design could have a potential role here in questioning the legitimacy of current laws (or lack thereof.)
Hi Leila, this graphic is remarkably concise and informative. I think even beyond the startling points you bring up, another one is the lack of the requirement for trained instructors to be teaching Sex Ed in Ohio. This is surprising to me. Without some sort of formal training program we can’t expect to deliver an equal Sex Ed program to all teens.
