WorldImpact is a plug-in for your favorite web browser to use with your favorite recipe site to find recipes that can be locally sourced and sustainably produced. A “Harvest Rating” is generated based on factors such as water use, ability to find a locally sourced product, growing season, and hectares to produce.
This product would provide a possible way for people to become more aware of their recipes. Ways to increase users’ creativity include:
- Links to alternative ingredients that are locally produced that users could substitute. This has the added benefit of encouraging users to cook outside the box.
- Links to lists of in-season ingredients that users could substitute.
