Drones have been getting smaller and smaller with the same maneuverability as larger drones. These devices can also be programmed to fly in formation. The “Drone Escorts” would be micro drones outfitted with proximity sensors, motion detectors, gps and diffuse LED lights that surround the outside and bottom of the drones. Before leaving, the user would us an app to request an escort service. The drones would then fly to the individual and follow them as they went on their walk.
The drones would fly to corners and illuminate upcoming unknown areas before the walker arrived so assure that the surrounds are clear.
The charging stations for these drones could be installed on existing street light poles and take advantage of the existing infrastructure. When they are done with their task, they would fly back to the base automatically.
