Build your Stax is a computer game made to teach high school students how to make smart choices when handling your money and building your investment portfolio. I personally learned a lot from this game, since I don’t know much about investing other than stocks. This game is definitely a bit outdated- no crypto! But it does a great job explaining each type of investment and letting the player experience it individually.
Although it is a really good learning tool, and holds your attention well, the most impactful part to me was the summary at the end that compared your results with the results of the computer that was given the same financial situations. This sense of reality was lacking in the actual game itself, in my opinion. This game teaches you how to handle financial situations within this GAME but it feels disconnected from the real world. I feel like maybe I don’t trust it, like these options are inaccessible to me because it still sounds foreign.
So what I’m trying to pull from this experience is that there is something human missing, I would still take my dads advice over anything I could learn in this game, even after playing 1000 times beating the computer. ALTHOUGH, It is a fun and the educational aspect is A+.
