More than half of Australian women don’t feel safe walking home at night. To raise awareness of this, humanitarian organisation Plan International has created an immersive 3D soundscape that follows a woman’s journey home. The soundscape aims to highlight the harassment, fear and panic women encounter on a solo walk home at night as they face the uncertainty of not knowing what threats or danger they may experience.
One of the areas that I have the most to learn about for this project is how women feel at night when walking alone. This soundscape helps to give more of an idea of what it is like, but not true enough. It makes me want to learn more how what that experience might entail.
