The idea for this came from my immediate response of needing to fix an issue. The issue I found was that electric vehicles were not made to be able to jump start another car even with two batteries because it can cause damages to the weaker battery that is in EVs (Braithwaite-Smith 2020). My idea for this ids that EVs need an accessibly better but it is not very visual because most it would rely heavily on engineers to figure out how to make the EV work well on a regular car battery and use that instead of the current one. After that is achieved then they could use car batteries instead and have them easily interchangeable and accessible. I would have the battery in the middle, back of the frunk space so that it could be easily accessed but also air cooled by air ducts in the hood above to keep the battery from over heating. To get to the battery it would have a roll up opening instead of a door incase it would be blocked in an emergency. You could then easily hook up cables as well as replace the battery after time. This would solve a problem that would allow an EV owner to be able to help someone jumpstart their car and quickly in an emergency. If the user were going camping with an EV, which is rising in popularity (Trekology 2024), it would be helpful to have a car that can jumpstart the other if it dies, especially if they are far from help.
I would move forwards with this considering other locations or ways of securing the battery and if the battery option is even possible for engineers to solve or if there was a better option that would allow the vehicle to safely jumpstart another vehicle by enhancing the current battery system.
