My driving factor behind this conjecture is keeping in mind the person behind the patient. As problem solvers, sometimes we lose sight of the real life experiences of the user behind our designs. Always solving for the problem can, sometimes, be more hurtful than helpful. They are just always waiting for a solution to actually work after trial run and trial run. Let’s prioritize designs for the journey. Centering my designs on my focus in healthcare, how can I make the day to day experiences of these patients more comfortable? Normalize their patient realities to something that isn’t a barrier anymore.

In the article, Artists bring “hidden truths” of epilepsy to light in art exhibition at Marina Park, an epileptic patient accounted his experience of creating art as “a deep concentration on an entirely new universe and … it was some kind of a high that I got out of it,’ said Beckemeyer” (Nguyen, 2022). I can transform the conditional cage of an epileptic person with this product, and be able to provide a space for them to feel welcome and support while also being in the comfort of their own home. Providing comfort for those who have been hurting for so long is something we should prioritize.

A device that sits in an area of the home and is connected to a community of epilepsy. People can share online motivation, artwork they have created, seizure experiences they had, advice and it will pop up and on an electric screen. It is battery operated for ease of use and has the ability to listen and react to voice commands.
