The Farmers’ Frunk was inspired by two articles from my newspapers business section. The first article, Truck purchases are driving up the average cost of car payments. Some buyers pay over $1,000 a month from CNBC covers the increasing cost of vehicles and their relationship to social status. The second article, The future EV? Electric sports car concept inspired by nature revealed covers the future of the electric vehicle market, and where designers are drawing inspiration for the new methods of transport.
The goal of my conjecture was to capture the environmentally conscious choices of EV’s with the show-off social status aspect. And where are trucks and nature close by? Farmers markets! Farmers and sellers rely heavily on their transportation in order to do their jobs, both in the fields and gardens and at the market. By offering a way for them to both grow and sell directly out of their vehicle, it makes for a compact and eye catching market stand that can bring attention to the environmentally friendly future of electric transport.
