Sport and art are the two most universal languages we have. They enable us to express ourselves physically, emotionally and even intellectually, allowing us to connect and communicate with each other around the world, crossing borders, cultures, languages and generations. If we blend these two languages into one, I believe we could create a powerful new vehicle and platform that could reach, and connect with, an even bigger audience.

sport and art, combined into a special program, could be an ideal platform for interaction, engagement and discussion of ideas and thoughts.

This article is by a former Olympic Athlete about the connection between sports and art. After reading the article I am seeing a lot more connections between art and sports. I appreciated the section on color and its importance in not only uniform design, but in sports related symbolism (ex: Karate belts, medals, penalty cards).

The article brought forth in my mind the fact that sports like art, connect people from all over the world, with different cultural backgrounds, demographics, and languages. I hadn’t thought about that and would be interested in seeing if there is a deeper reason for this.
