“Breathing City” is a concept that, in a way, brings the city to life. Through an app, you would notify the system that you were going to go on a walk. The “city nightlights” would would all connected wireless-ly to the internet and communicate with one another. As the user walked though the zones where this would be rolled out, the lights would grow brighter and light up more of the surroundings as the individual came closer.
These lights would be easy to mount to a variety of surfaces and completely self contained. With solar panels, LEDs and long lasting batteries, the maintenance would be light while also extending the life of the units.
As more people integrated into the system, the environment would seem to breath and flow as people traversed through the neighborhoods. This would give light where it is needed and not only with a general idea of where the light should be.
