In this story, a community has incorporated performance art as a way to draw people in to an event. This event has served to strengthen their community by creating a ritual by which each member of the community now feels a part of ownership. I could see art playing a role in the mobility ecosystem in similar ways, reinforcing the sense of community that exists within the OSU student body.

Artists question the connection of urban spaces and the world. As a campus shifting focus to more natural landscapes and a deeper connection, installations have the ability to provoke a dialogue and question how these structures serve to strengthen that relationship or weaken it. I rather enjoy the playfulness and irony employed in achieving their goal. I think that the problem with it becomes what do they do with those after they take the installation down?

This article features the Rolling Bridge design by Thomas Heatherwick. It focuses on Heatherwick’s ability to look at a problem from a new angle. Always challenging the conventional norms, Heatherwick creates designs that are functional works of art.

Using natural elements of design, new structures can gain dual-purpose and efficiency in operation. Faced with an inevitable change in climate, the future designs cannot be strictly structural utilitarianism. We must strive to do more restorative functional design.
