Shin collected more\nthan 400 pairs of shoes from friends and donors, deconstructing every aspect of\nthe footwear to form the two modules. The result is an elaborate display that\nprovides commentary on the many walks of life, including the relationship\nbetween materialism and consumption and how, despite being individuals, we\nessentially move as a collective group marching towards one goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cShe wants people to take a look at this\nundiscovered beauty that exists in daily intimate unworn objects because you\nnever pay attention to the bottom of the shoe and you had no idea that leather\nfrom worn out shoes can be a beautiful work of art,\u201d said the curator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cShe also wants people to think about the\nconsumer society because the fashion industry is all about conspicuous\npurchases. Some of the shoes aren\u2019t even worn that many times but they were\nhappy to give it up. Then, the network of people \u2014 we naturally have a\nrelationship with different people as a social animal so that\u2019s very clear in\nher work,\u201d explained Woo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese objects are so close to a previous\nowner that they became a proxy of these people that used to wear\nthem.&nbsp;It\u2019s all about quantity and every single item represents someone in\nsome way and once connected to some other unit it gains new function, meaning\nand beauty,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Analysis: This article and artwork outlines a main problem\nin the shoe industry. The world is based off a consumer society where fashion\nis constantly changing, and people are constantly buying new shoes.
