{"id":21451,"date":"2024-09-20T12:17:06","date_gmt":"2024-09-20T16:17:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/desis.osu.edu\/seniorthesis\/?p=21451"},"modified":"2024-09-21T17:28:03","modified_gmt":"2024-09-21T21:28:03","slug":"ai-driven-medical-devices","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/desis.osu.edu\/seniorthesis\/index.php\/2024\/09\/20\/ai-driven-medical-devices\/","title":{"rendered":"AI-Driven Medical Devices"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The NVIDIA article shows how AI is quickly changing medical devices and improving healthcare.&nbsp; &#8220;There are now around 700 FDA-cleared AI-enabled devices on the market,&#8221; which is ten times more than in 2020 (Niewolny, 2024).&nbsp; This growth is thanks to new technologies shown at NVIDIA\u2019s big conference, like AI tools for ultrasound and virtual reality for heart imaging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Medical devices are shifting from being hardware-focused to using software that can be updated, similar to how smartphones work.&nbsp; &#8220;NVIDIA\u2019s technology supports this shift, aiming to enhance patient care and streamline medical practices&#8221; (Niewolny, 2024).&nbsp; For example, GE Healthcare used NVIDIA\u2019s software to create SonoSAMTrack, a tool that makes reading ultrasound images easier (Niewolny, 2024)).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In surgeries, NVIDIA\u2019s platforms like IGX and Holoscan are making a big difference.&nbsp; &#8220;Johnson &amp; Johnson MedTech is testing new AI features to improve surgical precision and real-time data delivery&#8221; (Niewolny, 2024).&nbsp; Moon Surgical\u2019s Maestro System, using NVIDIA tech, helps surgeons control tools more easily and has been successful with over 200 patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NVIDIA\u2019s platforms are also helping many companies in the medtech field.&nbsp; &#8220;Arrow Electronics offers IGX as a subscription service,&#8221; and companies like Kaliber AI use NVIDIA tools for surgery insights (Niewolny, 2024).&nbsp; Barco and Magic Leap are adding NVIDIA tech to improve their surgical and virtual reality systems (Niewolny, 2024).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AI is greatly improving medical devices and making healthcare more efficient and effective through ongoing innovation and collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Niewolny, D.
