{"id":14611,"date":"2023-08-28T21:57:12","date_gmt":"2023-08-29T01:57:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/desis.osu.edu\/seniorthesis\/?p=14611"},"modified":"2023-09-30T23:32:34","modified_gmt":"2023-10-01T03:32:34","slug":"kroger-tests-driverless-cars-for-grocery-deliveries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/desis.osu.edu\/seniorthesis\/index.php\/2023\/08\/28\/kroger-tests-driverless-cars-for-grocery-deliveries\/","title":{"rendered":"Kroger Tests Driverless Cars for Grocery Deliveries"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>At a time when big-box retailers are trying to offer the same conveniences as their online competitors, the grocery chain Kroger is testing the use of driverless cars to deliver groceries in a Phoenix suburb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project from Kroger, the biggest supermarket chain in the United States, is part of an effort to fend off a rising threat from Amazon and Walmart, which have been pushing their online grocery offerings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Waymo, Google\u2019s autonomous vehicle project, started a similar pilot program last month at Walmart stores in Phoenix. In that case, self-driving vehicles transport customers to and from their selected Walmart location to pick up online grocery orders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>_______________________________________________________<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I decided to read this article because I find the idea of driverless cars to be interesting.
