It was\u00a0recently extended by\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.egm.nl\/en\" target=\"_blank\">EGM Architecten<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> The brief to Rotterdam-based\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kaanarchitecten.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kaan Architecten<\/a>\u00a0was to unite teaching, research and patient-care facilities under one roof. Their response was to create a space that\u00a0centres around\u00a0a triple-height\u00a0atrium,\u00a0including a library, two elevated lecture theatres, a cafe and offices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The Education Center is part of an imposing medical city, a post-war concrete jungle shaped by pragmatism and cost-cut,&#8221;
